I’m a fan of the Jetpack plugin by the makers of WordPress. Did you know there are a plethora of shortcodes you can use with Jetpack to enhance your site? Yep, and they are HERE.

For this example of usage, we are going to create a subscription form to new posts. With the Jetpack plugin installed, in your admin area, head over to: Jetpack >>> Settings >>> Discussion >>> Subscriptions.

Now, let’s add the subscription shortcode. The basic version is this:

jetpack_subscription_form

IMPORTANT: Surround the above with square brackets at the beginning and end of the above [ ]

and will show on your site like this:

Subscribe to Blog via Email

Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email.

You can insert this shortcode on individual posts or pages, say at the bottom of your text, or you can add same globally by using a text widget to your site where desired. You can also change the display of the shortcode. Here’s an example:

jetpack_subscription_form title=”Subscribe” subscribe_text=”Enter your email to receive notifications when new posts have been added.”

Again, add the square brackets and the subscription form will look like this:

Subscribe

Enter your email to receive notifications when new posts have been added.

Pretty cool, huh.
